The ABACC’s technical cooperation activities are shared with institutions from Brazil, Argentina and with organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Joint Research Center of the European Commission and the Department of Energy of the United States.

In Argentina, the Autoridad Regulatoria Nuclear and the Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica are to be noted. In Brazil, we can mention the research institutes of the Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear, Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil and the Centro Tecnológico da Marinha em São Paulo.

This cooperation is consolidated by means of joint courses, lectures and research work. Usually, ABACC officials perform as instructors or participants in the courses; in other cases, specialists from foreign institutions develop activities of common interest.

The technical cooperation activities are not limited to the ABACC officials: they have been extended to the specialists working for the network of laboratories in Argentina and Brazil certified by the ABACC, who cooperate with the Agency in the performance of sample analyses. This cooperation guarantees the reliability of the results obtained.

The ABACC officials do also participate in international technical teams, especially those of the European Safeguards Research and Development Association, thus having opportunities to get in touch with internationally renowned professionals, to update themselves professionally and to exchange information of the new technologies employed in safeguards.
