They underlined the importance of the cooperation of the countries for the joint and successful implementation of the inspections by ABACC and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) during the Covid-19 pandemic, overcoming great difficulties and complying with health regulations. They highlighted the technical robustness in the verification of the nuclear activities of both countries, the good coordination with the IAEA, remarking that there is ample space to deepen cooperation in the application of safeguards and the need to continue working in this regard. Finally, they shared with the Committee their vision on the contribution of the Regional Safeguards System (SCCC) to the relationship of cooperation, trust and transparency between Argentina and Brazil in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and nuclear non-proliferation in general. The CARI Nuclear Affairs Committee, represented by Ambassador Roberto García Moritán, thanked the Secretaries of ABACC for the excellent presentations and fruitful and enriching dialogue.
