ABACC and the United Nations Disarmament Fellows Program
Argentina and Brazil managed to include ABACC in the agenda of the United Nations Disarmament Fellowship Program. The pioneering initiative demonstrates the recognition by the international community of the highly successful experience in building trust between the two countries.
The Program comprises three segments, including visits to several international organizations related to disarmament, arms control and non-proliferation.
October 13 to 14, 2022, twenty-four fellows and a Program coordinator had lectures on the ABACC model and the regional safeguards system, and the technical activities carried out to implement the safeguards. The agenda also included a virtual visit to technical units of ABACC and a visit to the Atucha I Nuclear Power Plant and to the CAREM 25 Plant (under construction), in Argentina.
The opening of the event was in charge of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, Ambassador Pablo Tettamanti, the Brazilian Ambassador to Argentina, Mr. Reinaldo José de Almeida Salgado, and Mr. Marco Marzo, Secretary of ABACC.
