ABACC participates in the Meeting of Member State Support Program to IAEA Safeguards
From 13 to 15 February ABACC participated as observer of the Meeting of Coordinators of Member State Support Program to IAEA Safeguards.
This is a biannual meeting that aims to discuss the research and development plan of IAEA safeguards, the concepts and approaches, the state-of-the-art technologies, the destructive and non-destructive testing techniques, the containment and surveillance, the environmental analyzes and the participation of the laboratories of the countries in the analytical network of the IAEA, among others. The countries present as well as exchange information on areas of technical collaboration with the IAEA. At that time, there was a special section to the IAEA Symposium on International Safeguards, which will be held in November 2018.
During the section related to the analytical support to the IAEA and the network of laboratories it was emphasized the cooperation activities for the acceptance and application of the “ABACC-Cristallini” method for UF6 sampling. These activities are being developed under the Support Programs of Argentina and Brazil and coordinated by the ABACC in cooperation with the IAEA.
