ABACC at the 67th IAEA General Conference
The 66th Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference was held from 25 to 29 September in Vienna, Austria.
The Secretary of ABACC made a statement in the plenary session of the General Conference, highlighting the verification activities being carried out in 2023, the importance of inspector training, the ongoing modernization of measurement, containment, and surveillance systems, and the coordination of activities with the IAEA, among other matters. In this opportunity, representatives of ABACC met with the Director of Safeguards of EURATOM, Mr. Stephan Lechner, and advisors. They also met with the President of KINAC (Institute of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Control), Ms. Na Young LEE, to identify opportunities for technical cooperation.
On September 29, ABACC representatives met with the Director-General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi. Following that, the 37th Coordination Meeting between ABACC and the IAEA was held to address topics related to cooperation, activity coordination, inspector training, among others.
