21st Meeting of the Liaison Committee (LC) of the Quadripartite Safeguards Agreement
On October 3, 2023, in Vienna, it was held the 21st Meeting of the Liaison Committee (LC) of the Agreement between the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Argentine Republic, the Brazilian-Argentine Agency for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials (ABACC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for the Application of Safeguards – Quadripartite Agreement. Representatives from ABACC, IAEA and members of national authorities and Ministries of Foreign Affairs from both countries participated in the meeting.
On the occasion, the results of inspections carried out in 2022 were presented, as well as issues relating to the implementation of nuclear safeguards in Argentina and Brazil were discussed. In particular, it highlighted the challenges, in the near future, in implementing safeguards due to the expansion of nuclear installations in both countries.
