ABACC participates in the 11th edition of the "Summer School on Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation for Diplomats from Latin America and the Caribbean," held from July 14 to 18 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, in Mexico City
ABACC was invited to participate in the event, which offers a space for the reflection of relevant aspects of non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament and contributes to national capacity building in Latin America and the Caribbean by training new generations of specialized professionals.
ABACC participated virtually in a panel dedicated to IAEA and ABACC safeguards, with a presentation by Ms. Sonia Fernández Moreno, Planning Officer, on the creation, mission, verification activities, and challenges. This event featured experts in these fields from academia and government, as well as young diplomats from Latin America and the Caribbean. This event served as an important forum for raising awareness of ABACC’s contribution to nonproliferation in the world’s first nuclear-weapon-free zone in a populated area (Treaty of Tlatelolco).
