In an interview, Rose Gottemoeller, the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, mentions ABACC
Rose Gottemoeller, the first female Deputy Secretary General of NATO, in an interview for the Milênio program of Globo News, on March 20, 2017, mentioned ABACC as an example for the rest of the world.
“I want to mention Brazil and Argentina. In the 1980s, you had very advanced nuclear programs with the military regimes. A heroic and very important decision was taken at the time with the creation of the Brazilian-Argentine Agency for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials, ABACC, a highly significant mechanism and an example for the rest of the world regarding how to improve the trust and the transparency with respect to the nuclear question. It provided a very strong basis for the Treaty of Tlatelolco, which created a Latin America free of nuclear weapons.”
