The history and performance of ABACC were presented in a special class within the framework of the subject “The Nuclear Question” of the International Relations program of the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ)

The history and activities of ABACC were presented in a special class within the scope of the subject “The Nuclear Question” of the International Relations course at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). On June 19th, ABACC was invited to teach a special class about ABACC, its history and activities, for students on the International Relations course at UERJ at the invitation of its coordinator, Dr. Layla Dawood.

The class was given by ABACC’s Planning and Evaluation officer, Ms. Sonia Fernández Moreno, and covered the history of the relations between Brazil and Argentina rapprochement that led to the creation of ABACC; the Agreement between the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Argentine Republic for the Exclusively Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy; the Common System for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials (SCCC), the Mission and Structure of ABACC and its performance and cooperation with the IAEA in the application of safeguards. The students were very interested in learning about the process of construction and bilateral cooperation.
