68th IAEA General Conference
The 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) took place from September 16 to 20 in Vienna, Austria.
On September 18, the Secretary Marco Marzo delivered the statement at the plenary session of the General Conference, highlighting the verification activities carried out in 2023, the training of inspectors, the modernization of non-destructive measurement systems and containment and surveillance systems, as well as the visit of fellows from the United Nations Disarmament Program.
ABACC representatives had a meeting with the Director of Safeguards at EURATOM, Mr. Stephan Lechner, and advisors. They also had a meeting with the President of KINAC (Institute of Nuclear Nonproliferation and Control), Ms. Na Young LEE, to exchange topics of common interest to the institutions.
On September 17, a meeting among the ABACC Secretaries and the Chancellor Diana Mondino and members of the Argentine delegation was held. As well as, on September 20, a meeting ABACC representatives and the Director General Rafael Grossi was carried out.
On this opportunity, the 38th Coordination Meeting between ABACC and IAEA was held to discuss issues related to cooperation and coordination of activities, implementation of safeguards, among others.
